Do & Knowledge Terschelling with lecture Sand balance of Terschelling by Edward Elias
Staatsbosbeheer Terschelling and Rijkswaterstaat organized a Do & Knowledge Day in and around Ieders Plak on 1 November 2015. During this day a number of lectures were given. This is one of these lectures, The sand balance of Terschelling. How does the island behave against the forces of the sea? Where is the Terschelling sand motor located and what about Cupido’s polder now? Based on extensive soil data from 1925, Edwin Elias provides a unique view of the sediment balance of the Wadden Sea and explains why Rijkswaterstaat is replenishing along a number of islands. Learn from him all about landing banks, wagging island tails and a hungry Wadden Sea.
